6 All-Natural Makeup Removers You Can Find in Your Pantry

Lately, I’ve become V picky about my nighttime routine. I only use a handful of products nowadays, and I’m always careful to check the ingredients before applying anything to my skin. After all, most people would be shocked to hear that, according to this source, women absorb up to FIVE POUNDS of damaging chemicals a year — all thanks to their beauty products.

But does this mean you should immediately toss everything that’s currently housed on your vanity without second thought? Thank the Lord, no! My motto has always been that slow and steady wins the race. Cutting something out cold turkey doesn’t typically work for anyone, and I will always stand by the idea that one of the most important factors in creating a healthy lifestyle is about finding balance. Know your facts, and actively choose what you allow to go in (and on) your body.

And even if you’re not ready to give somethin’ up? It’s all good. I still have my ride or dies, too. That being said, there’s one non-negotiable I’ve recently picked up.

That non-negotiable is…all-natural makeup removers

…that you can find in your pantry.

It’s easy, clean AND cheap? Yes! Safe to say I’m obsessed. With no sick-o chemicals or expensive price tags, what’s not to love? Take a look at these six beauts and try one of ’em tonight! I know you’ll be hooked too.

1. coconut oil

Coconut oil is my absolute faaavorite makeup remover. It smells good, it’s all natural, && I honestly feel like it works better than the store-bought makeup removers I used to purchase. And did I mention that it easily wipes away even the most resilient waterproof mascaras? #WIN.

2. witch hazel

Witch hazel is a great makeup remover, because it also helps fight acne. According to this source, witch hazel has “strong antioxidant and astringent properties [that are] perfect for killing bacteria that lives within skin’s pores, stopping cellular damage that can lead to skin cancer, preventing signs of aging, and speeding up healing.”

Wow! That’s a mouthful, but it sounds pretty damn good. Right? All you need to do to reap the benefits of this alcohol-free toner and makeup remover is mix it with equal parts oil of your choice and apply to skin. Love.

3. almond oil

Are you sensing a common theme here yet? Oils FTW all day, erryday. Almond oil specifically is a top choice if you have skin sensitivities or oily skin, and there’s no need to mix it with any other ingredients. Just apply it to a cotton ball/pad, and let it work its magic!

4. raw honey

If you’ve read this post, you know just how much I love honey as a natural beauty tool. First of all, it’s an anti-bacterial, which means it’s great for treating acne. It’s also moisturizing AND the perfect makeup remover. Love love love. All you need to do is combine a bit of this sweet treat with baking soda or your favorite oil, and watch all of your makeup glide off your skin effortlessly.

5. olive oil

Here’s yet another oil that is great for removing makeup. All you need to do is apply a few drops to a cotton ball and wipe away.  Just make sure you buy plain olive oil. I read a story once about a blogger who accidentally used garlic olive oil to take off her makeup — ha!

6. avocado

Believe it or not, you can actually use raw avocado as a makeup remover! A lot of people use the oil, but dipping a q-tip into a cut avocado is effective too. This fruit has lots of natural oils in it, plus omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins A, D, and E, so it’s great for both clearing away your makeup and moisturizing your eyes. [Source]

So, whaddya think? Would you use any of these natural makeup removers that you can find in your pantry, or would you rather keep your food items strictly in the kitchen? Let me know in the comments!
