Every time I see a subscription box teaser on Instagram or Facebook, I immediately feel the urge to subscribe. It could literally be a subscription to sudoku puzzles, dirty laundry, and calamari (three of my random, least favorite things) and I'd still have to fight the urge to order, just so I could know what's inside and upload a cute unboxing post to all my social channels.
So you guys get it. I'm very into subscription boxes. I absolutely love the anticipation of waiting to see what's packed into them, and it's also the best little surprise when you show up at home to a pretty pink package sitting on your doorstep that you just know is filled with goodies.
POPSUGAR was kind enough to send me their June Must-Have Box to try, so of course I want to share all of the delights with you guys here on TBC.
Here's a brief rundown of what was in the June Must-Have Box:
1. NCLA Born on the 4th Nail Lacquer
How perfect is this nail color? And just in time for the 4th of July! I love that it's cruelty free and was developed exclusively with POPSUGAR.
2. Are you Ready for Your Close-Up Compact
You can't see the front of this compact mirror in the photo, but it says, "Are you ready?". The inside of course compliments this with..."for your close-up?" I love the sass, and I was in desperate need of a new compact for my work bag.
3. Neutral Diamonds Printed Sarong (pictured above with June pamphlet)
This sarong is perfect for laying by the pool/beach this summer.
4. Ridley's Games Room "Who Am I?" Quiz
I'm always in search of a new game to play at the dinner table, and this one takes the cake. The cards are petite and the rules are simple. Oh, and you also get to talk about your favorite celebs. What's not to love?
5. "cheers" gold bottle opener
Finally a classy way to crack a bottle! Love it.
6. Pacifica underarm deodorant wipes
I love all things Pacifica, these wipes included. They smell great and are perfect for when you're on the go.
7. sriracha pressels
Send me food and we're friends for life. I loved these "Pressels"!
Ever thought about trying a subscription box? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
"Care what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner." - Lao Tzu
If I could tell all women everywhere just one thing, it would be this:
F*ck what other people think of you.
I wrote a Motivational Monday post a few weeks ago on why fear is SO boring, but I never really got down to the nitty gritty on what I think scares people the most.
It's funny, because there are so many things to worry about in life, and yet almost all of us subconsciously choose to stress over what other people have to think/say about us.
First off, thanks to all of ya'll who stopped by last week to check out the first ever "Weekend Edit". I really enjoyed getting a bit more personal with you guys, and I got a generous amount of positive feedback to boot!
But let's talk about this weekend, shall we?
I mean, it was kind of a big deal since R. turned 21...on Sunday.
So it obviously wasn't the wildest time haha, but we had a lot of fun going midnight bowling and eating too much cookie cake on Saturday night. For those of ya who don't know, Richard's interning in Pittsburgh this semester, so I really didn't care what we did this weekend as long as we could spend it together.
Ah, another edition of "5 Things You Need in Your Life This Week". I'm so happy I started this series last month, because it's been such fun for me to share these ideas with you guys! Richard's birthday is this weekend, so I'm not sure how many of 'em I'll be able to try, but the though of making these wholesome carrot muffins during my spring break next week is totally giving me life right now.
And before we jump right into the rest of your tentative weekend to-do list, I want to note: if you enjoy these posts, you should definitely sign up for my "Weekly Dose of Inspiration" newsletter. It goes hand in hand with "5 Things You Need in Your Life This Week", but in the newsletter I share even more personalized, exclusive content like weekly reading suggestions, killer playlists, dope quotes, style steals & even more (yes, it's possible to pack even more value into a weekly newsletter, I swear!).
If there's one thing that I think almost all bloggers fear above all, it's running out of ideas. I mean, let's be honest...writer's block is a huge pain in the a$$ — especially if you're relying on your blog as a source of income.
I wrote about how comparison has stifled my creativity in the past here, but there's a few other tips that I didn't note in that post that have helped me to grow as a writer and blogger immensely.
In fact, I almost never question what I'm going to write about nowadays.
That's coming from a girl who used to stare at her computer for hours trying to come up with the "perfect" post idea.
"5 Things You Need in Your Life This Week" is a recurring series on The Blonde Chiffon. New edits are published every Friday, and the intent is to give readers a concise list of amazing thoughts/projects/trends to try over the weekend and into the next week. I hope that you are as inspired as I am by these finds!
As the saying goes, worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere. I feel the same way about fear, which remains at the top of my shit list indefinitely. After all, there's really nothing remarkable about fear. No excitement, and certainly no enjoyment.
And did I mention that it's f*cking boring?
In lieu of a typical #MotivationalMonday edit this week, let's talk about something a bit different — something that just so happens to be most creative entrepreneurs' biggest frenemy.
Whaaaat? Isn't inspiration supposed to be my BFFL, you ask? Well, the funny thing about inspiration is that, when it's there for you, it's on freaking point. When it's not though? That's another story...
I was super surprised last Friday at the positive reaction to my first "5 Things You Need in Your Life This Week" post. I always click on these types of articles on other blogs, but I had no idea how much others would enjoy my own finds!
For some reason, this week's content was particularly easy to stumble upon, and it's safe to say that I'm going to be trying all of the above in the very near future (aka Saturday & Sunday).
If I could go back in time and give my 15-year-old self one piece of advice, it would be this:
Love yourself. Always.
I recently read the book You Are a Badass, and every single chapter ended with that reminder. The message was that important.
Though it's taken me many years to "master" this concept, I still feel like I'm ahead of the curve. In a world that's dominated by social media, getting trapped in a never-ending cycle of comparison is seemingly inevitable (though, I wrote about why it doesn't have to be here). Not to mention the fact that virtually everything nowadays is photoshopped to death. I love, love, love that raw, real life is slowly but surely becoming the new "it" thing (thank u Snapchat & Insta stories).
Similar to my Motivational Monday posts, rounding up some of my favorite content on the web quickly evolved into one of my very first series I started writing once I hit "publish" on TBC in 2014. Since then, I've gravitated more towards creating, rather than curating. That's something that I'm proud of, because it's honestly much harder (and a much longer road to success) than just constantly rounding up other people's content. We've all seen those posts on Pinterest that have a bazillion repins, but all of the "150 Hacks/Recipes/etc." in the article are just links to other blogs. It's fun reading them once in awhile, but I'm a total believer in the need to create organic content if you want to develop a sustainable online community. Ya with me?
