The Best 5 Minute, DIY French Vanilla Coffee Body Scrub

I'm a huge fan of body scrubs. Actually, I'm a huge fan of all bath/body products. I also have a tendency to greatly overestimate how much product I can use in a given period of time, so I end up with a lot of half-full containers of forgotten beauty products. Now, if you're a beauty aficionado like myself, you know all too well the havoc that some of the best buys can wreak on your bank account. 

I think I speak for all of us when I say that I don't want to choose between Chipotle and the latest release from LUSH. They're both essentials in my book! 

So that's where this DIY French Vanilla Coffee Body Scrub comes in. I've been wanting to try a coffee body scrub for some time now, but haven't found a product that feels like it's worth the investment. So what do you do when you can't find something? You DIY it, duh.

Now let me preface this by saying that I am NOT a DIY kind of girl. Every project that I touch somehow backfires and ends up costing me more than if I had just bit the bullet and actually purchased the finished, in-store item. Somehow though, I do have a bit of a talent in the area of recipe creation though. So, I figured I'd give it a shot and see if I couldn't create the scrub that I've been looking for. 

One of my favorite parts about this scrub is that it only has five ingredients, all of which you probably already have in your pantry:

INGREDIENTS

♥ 1 cup coffee grounds

♥ 2/3 cup brown sugar

♥ 1/2 cup honey

♥ 2 tbs. vanilla extract

♥ 1 cup coconut oil

The other great thing about this recipe in addition to its convenience is that each ingredient has a specific and targeted benefit for your skin. I nixed all the unessential sh*t that tends to appear in similar recipes, but added a few of the best natural skincare ingredients that most people miss. 

I know, I'm bragging, but once you feel your skin after using this body scrub, you'll understand.

Now here's a breakdown of the ingredients and their purposes, just as an FYI. Knowing what's in my beauty products (and food) and why is VERY important to me. There's a lot of sicko ingrediens in products nowadays that are completely unessential and sometimes even harmful. But anyways, tangent over. Here's what's going on in this scrub:

Coffee: exfoliates, decreases inflammation, reduces appearances of cellulite, improves circulation, smoothes skin

Brown Sugar: exfoliates, reduces appearances of cellulite, moisturizes (brown sugar is a natural humectant, which means that it draws moisture from the environment and deposits it into your skin -- via)

Honey: antibacterial, full of antioxidants (reduces signs of aging), soothes and smoothes skin

Vanilla Extract: high concentration of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, scent

Coconut Oil: anti-aging properties, moisturizes and softens skin

Also feel free to play around with the ingredients. It's not a science by any means, so if you'd like to add something, don't be afraid to try it! Definitely let me know in the comments if you create an alternative recipe though, because I'd love to try it out.
